JILTED BY DEATH came out from Silver Dagger Mysteries in March, 2004. On her second week on the job, a bride disappears and Willa finds herself caught in a cat and mouse game with a killer.
It is the first in a series featuring the spunky associate minister, Willa Hinshaw, at Liverpoole First United Methodist Church.
JILTED BY DEATH is a nominee for the 2004 Sir Walter Raleigh Award For Fiction, 2004. This award is given by the Historical and Literary Society of North Carolina.
Lynette Hall Hampton is busy working on the second in the series, ECHOS OF MERCY.
JILTED BY DEATH is available at www.shakespeareandcompany.com (an independent bookstore), at most other bookstores, as well as from the publisher.
My mother, Willa Dean Hall, was working on a book before her death in 2001. Unfortunately, cancer took her from this world before the book was complete. As a tribute to her, I put the manuscript together in a way in which I hope she would be pleased. I found the title THEN in her papers and used this as she would have done. THEN is available from Gentle Giant Publishing, a division of Alabaster Books.
Willa Dean Hall's writing style has been described as a cross between the styles of Laura Ingalls Wilder and Mark Twain.
In THEN, she paints a picture of a hard but happy childhood in the mid 1920s and early 1930s on the family farm at Millers Creek, located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. Willa Dean, along with her three siblings -- an older brother and sister and a younger sister -- are children you learn to know and grow to love. Mrs. Hall's prose is charming in its simplicity, chock full of humor and often with just the right amount of potency. It definitely gives the reader a true picture of how life was THEN.

Lynette Hall Hampton's first pbulished book was FUN WITH THE published. It has now been reprinted. This book is chock full of games, quizzes and puzzles -- some easy enough for the young reader; others, will challenge the adult. This book is not intended to give the reader the feedling of knowing the Bilble, but will familiarize him or her with Bible stories and history in the Old an New Testaments as they work out the answers. Anywhere a variation is encountered answers answers can found in the Revised Standard Version of the Bible.
After making hundreds of these games, puzzles and quizzes for Sunday School and Bible School literature for a vairety of denomiations, Lynette decided it was time to construct some to put into book form. She sticks only to the facts as stated in the Bible and has purpously not interjected any theology. She says that she has been a Methodist most of her life and has sold less of her work to her own demonination than she has to others.
